Ukrainian delegation visits Berlin at BETD 2023

From March 27 to 31, the Ukrainian delegation led by Energy Minister German Galushchenko visited Berlin as part of this year's Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD) 2023 and the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership. Minister Galushchenko and Vice-Minister Demchenkov participated as speakers in the official BETD panels on March 28 and 29.

In addition to the official delegation of the Ministry of Energy, numerous representatives of NGOs, think tanks, companies, startups and participants of the "WE United for Ukraine" initiative took part in various exchange formats within the BETD, including a B2G meeting and two events with German and Ukrainian professional organizations. In addition, a parliamentary breakfast with German members of the Bundestag and the Ukrainian delegation took place within the framework of the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership.

On 28th March a Dialogue Exchange with German & Ukrainian civil society on key aspects of recovery and sustainable transformation of the energy sector in Ukraine took place. One of the topics discussed was the current challenges for "green" recovery and resilient energy transition: financial, legal and technical issues.

Two important memoranda were signed on the sidelines of the BETD. On 29th of March Minister Galushchenko met with representatives of German companies that are members of the German Eastern Business Association (Ost-Ausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft e.V.) and signed a memorandum of cooperation framework. It should facilitate the experience exchange between the parties and the implementation of regular joint cooperation formats.

Later on that day, associations from the renewable energy industry German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE)  and Ukraine’s 100 RE UA signed a memorandum of understanding with the aim of strengthening ties “to support the energy transition in both Ukraine and Germany, by exchanging best practices and by learning from each other.” The goal is to develop a "RePowerUA" plan based on the the European Commission's "RePowerEU" plan.
